Even Santa Uses an iPad (+Splashtop)

Since it’s the holidays, there’s no better time to share a unique story of how a Santa photo operation are using iPads and Splashtop to run their business. May this be an inspiration to you on using tablets for your own business.

Here’s the story from Randy Long of Santa Magic:

Santa Magic has kept a mission of keeping on the cutting edge of technology and customer service in the Santa and Easter photo operations. Sixteen years ago, Santa Magic was born of the idea that the traditional Polaroid experience was not customer friendly and that there should be more than one viewing station to speed up the experience of visiting Santa and the Easter Bunny.

Splashtop has allowed us to leave the computer behind and bring the viewing experience to our guests. No longer do we HAVE to be behind a counter and wait to watch the results of a photo shoot. Linked up and ready, our iPads can be handed to our guests to watch exactly how the pictures are turning out, cutting out guesswork and cutting down wait times for our guests.

Customers can focus more on the experience that their family is having with Santa with the assurance that they have already seen their photos and can select their purchase after the Santa experience is over. Once at the viewing stations, parents already have an idea of which photos they like, so they make their selections quicker and return to their families quickly.

We have even started using the shopping center couches as viewing stations for families. This allows parents to keep their children sitting and not running around. This is a huge comfort to parents.

Splashtop has also allowed Santa Magic to maintain high levels of consistency throughout our system as we distribute updates and services as they become available. Our staff loves the iPad interface and our guests love being able to pass around the photos prior to their purchase!
