Splashtop 2.0 is official and gets touchy

It is hard to keep up with all the exciting news here at CES. It seems like every second there is something drool worthy that pops up. This year at CES there are definitely some drool worthy netbooks from your favorite manufacturers. Which leads me to some exciting netbook related announcements: Splashtop 2.0 is official, and on top of that our software will now be powering all of the popular netbooks from the leading manufacturers - Asus, Acer, and HP to name a few.
So what’s new in 2.0? Well it’s a significant step in every category: it’s even faster than before, has a better 3G connectivity experience, it’s touch optimized, and has a slew of other new features like:
- A redesigned application dock that let’s you add your favorite apps and sites.
- Ability to customize the look and feel of your desktop with stylish wallpapers and personalized packages.
- Instant search, which let’s you search even before launching the browser.
- Visual navigation of your favorite sites and history.
The new Lenovo Ideapad S10-3t, a touch-enabled netbook, will be the first to feature Splashtop 2.0.
Lastly I’d like to welcome the latest addition to the family - EeePC netbook line. The EeePC single handedly rocked the industry three years ago, and they continue to do so with the innovative swiveling tablet-netbooks like the EeePC T91MT, which of course includes Splashtop

Still not coming with XBMC Media Center?
Sounds good. Is ist possible to upgrade from Version 1.0 to 2.0? I have it on a Sony Vaio Notebook.
hello,
that's a good news. Is it possible to update a previous version of splashtop ?
I have an HP netbook.
best regards,
We have custom - and pretty different - versions for all PC makers, like HP and Sony. So they roll out new versions on very different schedules, usually when they launch new notebooks... (@Sebastian: I am also on a Sony Vaio VGN-NW now, using classic Splashtop).
For those asking about getting an upgrade I think there are two ways to upgrade.
1. If your current version of splashtop has it you can upgrade from the General tab in your Environment Settings dialogue.
2. You can go to the pc maker site and download a new version. It is a Windows download. The exe runs and installer and then you reboot and you're done. (This may differ by vendor, but this is how Lenovo has it.)
So the real question is how soon will your vendor have 2.0? How soon will Splashtop release it to them?
Loving the splashtop revolution! THEY haven't got a chance! You rock DeviceVM!

...con accesso a browser, client mail, VoIP e quant’altro. Da poche ore è stata rilasciata la versione 2.0 che tra le caratteristiche più importanti include una dock completamente ridisegnata...
Is Splashtop 2.0 also installed on the new Lenovo S10-3 (non touch version)? What about ASUS 1005PE? Still using older version as Express Gate or no longer using IOS?
Do current T91MT's have any form of splashtop at all?
I've been reading MANY reviews of the T91MT but none of them note this feature.
Or are all NEW T91MT's going to get this feature?
Hi there!
First of all...Congratulation! I'm very impressed about your new release!
Is there any Splashtop related firmware download link on Sony support website? I haven't found it anywhere!!!
I just bought a new Vaio NW-250F notebook having 1'st version of Splashtop. The major problem for me is that I cannot adjust the display brightness which is set to maximum....it is very annoying!
Thank you!

@Mtode: We are aware of the screen brightness issue and are working to resolve it. Currently, there is no update available to fix it. Once it is ready, we will post more information about it on our support forums. Here is the link to this particular support issue:

@Brian: Yes, new T91MT's will have Express Gate instant-on powered by Splashtop.
@sergei
Thank you for the reply!
I considering a T91MT myself, guess I should wait for the new ones to come out!
I got Splashtop 2.0 with my new ASUS Eee PC 1005P. Really nice in concept. The only irritating thing ist the screen resolution which seems to be set at 800*600. The native display resolution is at 1024*768, though.
Is there any way to change the resolution?
@Sascha: The native resolution on Eee PC 1005P (actually, 1024x600) is supported from Express Gate version 1.2.18.24. As far as we know, ASUS has not yet released it as an upgrade, but you may want to check their support page in a bit:

Splashtop is a great OS and very functional for basic needs, but I would also like to run a full desktop on the Lenovo S10-3t. I'm currently involved in a discussion at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1415915 about bringing Ubuntu to the S10-3t.
Currently everything is working except the touch screen. I've noticed that Quick Start is using evdev for the touch screen, but I can't seem to figure out what they did to get it working. If anyone has information about this, it would be greatly appreciated.
Why don't you have a video player for local files in Splashtop. That is the killer app that is missing.
Hi, I've just purchased Lenovo S10-3t and I couldn't stop playing with Splashtop. Just wondering if there is a virtual keyboard that can run with Splashtop. That will definitely save me a lot of trouble from opening Windows to use its virtual keyboard.
