All she needs is a browser, a simple emailer, and Skype to have a video contact once in a while with our daughter (her granddaughter) who is at Tufts. Using Windows turns out to be a disaster for her. Its just too overwhelmingly complex. I think that Splash top is exactly what she and may be many other elderly need to enter the internet era at their failing age. Looking a that flashdrive of yours attached to the laptop and watching her struggling with Windows... I would have bought an Asus motherboard for her, but she feels surprisingly attached to the laptop I gave her and intimidated by keyboards and monitors. I looked at DSL Linux and also found it just too damn compex for the purpose. Is there a way to be a beta user for this thingy for the use with elderly?
