I’ve been trying my best to live the Splashtop life lately. Basically, I’ve been utilizing Splashtop on a daily basis in different ways so I can better help influence the user experience. A lot of startups “eat their own dogfood” as the saying goes and DeviceVM is no different.
Lately, I’ve been really impressed with a new IPTV service called Hulu. Hulu is an online offering comprising of a whole host of American TV networks. Together, they offer a series of high quality programs and movies that can be streamed onto your computer via your web browser - the Splashtop Browser is no exception. If you want to read more about Hulu, here’s a great article that talks about how Hulu is coming out of Beta and going international soon.
I made a quick video about watching Hulu content using Splashtop on an EeePC. Check it out:

After my Dad died several months ago my 84 years old mother decided to try to learn how to use a computer, which she never touched before. All she needs is a browser, a simple emailer, and Skype to have a video contact once in a while with our daughter (her granddaughter) who is at Tufts.
Using Windows turns out to be a disaster for her. Its just too overwhelmingly complex.
I think that Splash top is exactly what she and may be many other elderly need to enter the internet era at their failing age. Looking a that flashdrive of yours attached to the laptop and watching her struggling with Windows…
I would have bought an Asus motherboard for her, but she feels surprisingly attached to the laptop I gave her and intimidated by keyboards and monitors. I looked at DSL Linux and also found it just too damn compex for the purpose.
Is there a way to be a beta user for this thingy for the use with elderly?

I am curious … how did you obtain a copy of splashtop to put on your eeePC?

@Michael - it was a demo version that we had here in the office. We launched Splashtop off of a USB Flash Drive.

Hi, where is your office ? I want your USB key (and my eeePC too
)
We can’t do this with source code you’ve release… we could do nothing with this… I’m sure splashTop on eeePC is interresting. So, please, release, share… or sell an USB key with this awesome thing for my eeePC and all other eeePC around the world… I’ll be the first customer.

I have to say I am also very interested in this for the EEEpc to set up my computer illiterate parents.
