DeviceVM, Inc. is a privately-held software company that develops rapid-start computing technologies to enable faster and more efficient computing. The Company partners with PC OEMs and consumer electronics companies to integrate its core technology into desktops, notebooks, ultra-mobile PCs, and other convergence devices worldwide. Founded in 2006, DeviceVM is headquartered in Silicon Valley with offices in Taiwan and China. DeviceVM takes advantage of virtualization technologies, and strives to make the PC simpler, faster, and safer to use. Prior to DeviceVM, the founders were jointly responsible for founding OSA Technologies, an enterprise software company focused on embedded systems management for server platforms. OSA was acquired by Avocent in 2004. In August 2006, DeviceVM raised more than $10 million in a Series A, backed by Storm Ventures, DFJ Dragon Fund, Tim Draper, Asus, iD Innovation (started by Acer founder Stan Shih), Harbinger Ventures (started by Mitac-Synnex Group Chairman Matthew Miau), and strategic angel investors affiliated with major PC manufacturers (Intel, Lenovo, HP, eMachines / Gateway, Packard Bell, Foxconn, Quanta, Compal, etc.) In October 2007, DeviceVM raised additional $10 million, with existing investors, as well as new strategic investors from HTC, Merus Capital, Presidio(Sumitomo) and WR Hambrecht. DeviceVM is releasing its first software product, Splashtop, in October of 2007. Splashtop is a proprietary technology developed by DeviceVM that provides users with a rapid-start alternative to the traditional operating system. Splashtop lets users reach their favorite Internet applications seconds after turning on their PC. Splashtop will be first available as Express Gate on the P5E3 Deluxe / WiFi AP Motherboards from Asus. |
